I was woken up hours after falling asleep, which was enough to feel a lot better. It also helped that Chloe had made some restorative food.
Marguerite said that Chloe and Ofeshia had been in silent communication with the shrine network for three hours. And there was a mist coming over the lip of the caldera. (I checked on Woveshancor; he was still unconscious, but stable. I got some fluids into him.)
Eevolertu checked on the fires and where people and supplies were for the coming fight. I asked Marguerite if she'd touched Ofeshia or Chloe, and she said she'd gotten close to it, but her fingers tingled when she attempted it, so she left them. Which seemed odd to me, given how quickly previous encounters had been, but it's not my area of expertise.
From the southwest, there was a flash in the sky, orange that seemed to hit a sort of mesh protecting us, lighting up then dissipating, though we could feel the sound of impact, and heard the sound of howling in the valley. Not long after, there was a cloud of darkness starting to descend.
Marguerite asked me to hold the ritual while she blessed some weapons. Eevolertu decided that since he would have a blessed weapon, I should carry the gourd he had instead. I kept an eye on the cloud of night, which started descending as Marguerite put her blessing on the two weapons. As always, it was interesting to hear and see her blessing happening.
